Coalition for Advancing Transit QUARTERLY MEETING
Moving Forward Together

Thursday, April 8, 2010 ~ 5:30PM
Manpower International, Downtown Milwaukee

Are you ready to get engaged in saving our local bus systems? The current legislative session ends on April 24th and legislators are considering a bill that would help save our local bus systems and allow communities to invest in critical infrastructure that will help create jobs and economic growth.

At this meeting, you will learn what the current status is of the RTA bill.  It truly is “all in” this time around and we need EVERYONE to help us call supporters, canvass neighborhoods and get the word out.

You will also have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments and network with other members in the Coalition to learn what WE can all do together to move regional transit forward.

  • Registration & Refreshments begin at 5:00PM, meeting starts at 5:30PM
  • Location: Manpower International, 100 Manpower Place, Milwaukee.  East of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive (3rd Street), off of Cherry Street and just north of downtown Milwaukee.
  • Parking is available on Cherry Street and in the Visitors Lot north of the building (on Cherry).
  • Bus routes 19, 80, 57 and 15 all run near Manpower. Visit to plan your trip or call the Bus Line at (414) 344-6711 for assistance.

This event is FREE and open to C.A.T. members, supporters and the public.  RSVP to Kristi at UEDA – Phone: (414) 562-9904 or

Success!  RTA Bill Passes Committee 8-2

Thanks for all of your efforts to keep the RTA moving ahead!
The Assembly Committee on Transportation passed a new, stronger RTA bill (AB-282) out of committee on April 1st with 7 democrats and one republican voting in favor (Thank you Rep. Ott from the Fox Valley!) and two republicans in opposition. It was great to see a bi-partisan vote that reflects the breadth and depth of support for the RTA across business, labor, minority, faith-based, environmental, and community groups.

Please take a moment to reach out and thank the Committee members who worked tirelessly to keep this critically important legislation moving ahead.  The next stop for the transit legislation is the Joint Finance Committee next week – if we want to see AB 282 get passed this session it must get through Joint Finance and onto the full Assembly for a vote.
